FARMINGDALE, NY – Farmingdale State scored two goals in the first half, then added four more tallies in the second frame as the host Rams posted a 6-0 season-opening victory over King's College in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.
The Rams saw four different players reach the scoring column, as Jamie Smith and Christina Merrill notched two goals and two assists each. Sarah Golden and Sarah Cairo each added one goal for Farmingdale.
Farmingdale held a 33-4 shot advantage, while garnering five corner kicks in the contest. Lady Monarch goalie junior Danielle Johnson (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) was busy in net recording 12 saves on the afternoon.
King's will continue their road trip Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Hackettstown, NJ to play in the Centenary College Labor Day Tournament. The Lady Monarchs will play the host Centenary College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., before facing Medgar Evers College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
