KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO D'YOUVILLE, 2-1
WILKES-BARRE – The visiting D'Youville College women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to post a 2-1 victory over host King's College Sunday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, DY'ouville improved to 3-2 while King's slipped to 1-4.
King's got on the board with 8:09 left in the first half when Becky Chateauneuf took a short cross from Jade Zuniga and buried a shot from 30 yards out just under the crossbar to give the Lady Monarchs a 1-0 lead.
D'Youville knotted the game at 1-1 when Danielle Braun scored on a penalty kick with 33:53 remaining in the second half.
The Spartans would push across the game-winner with 4:58 remaining when Colleen Wiechec drilled in a shot from 20-yards out.
D'Youville held a 19-8 advantage in shots and a 7-4 lead in corner kicks. King's goalie Danielle Johnson made 11 saves while Spartan keeper Christina Ventresca posted three stops.
The Lady Monarchs return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home contest against Alvernia College in McCarthy Stadium.
