KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER HANDED 6-1 LOSS BY PENN STATE BERKS

READING -- Alyssa Scheidt scored three goals to lead the host Penn State Berks women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory over visiting King's College in a non-conference matchup Thursday in Reading.

With the win, PSU-Berks improved to 3-2 while King's slipped to 1-6.

Scheidt scored a pair of first-half goals to give the Lions a 2-0 lead at the break. Taylor Kreider made it a 3-0 game when she struck net off an assist from Brianna Arnold just 0:33 into the second half.

King's countered when Jade Zuniga converted a Becky Chateauneuf pass in a Lady Monarch goal 1:57 later to cut the lead to 3-1. Scheidt, however, added her third goal at the 61:08 mark before Lindsay Naughton tallied the final goal just 1:08 later to bring the final score to 6-1.

PSU-Berks managed the victory despite being outshot by King's 16-14  while the Lady Monarchs held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Danielle Johnson made four saves for King's while Lion keeper Cassidy Dawson posted seven stops.

King's returns to action Sunday when the Lady Monarchs travel to face the State University of New York at Westbury in a 1:00 p.m. matchup.
