HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – Host Centenary College scored four second half goals on way to a 4-1 victory over visiting King's College in women's soccer action on day one of the Cyclone Classic.
Following the loss, King's drops to 0-2 overall on the young season.
Jen Dexter would put Centenary on the board first at the 28:02 mark of the first half when she scored from the top of the box. Dexter would then add her second tally just five minutes into the second half when she found the back of the net off a cross from Jazmine Farrell. King's Holly Spikol (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) would cut the deficit in half when she crossed into the middle of the box and struck the ball home at the 66:22 mark. That would be the closest the Lady Monarchs would get as the Cyclones would add two more goals within one minute to push the lead to 3-1. Dexter would complete the hat trick by adding an insurance marker with three minutes left in the contest.
The Cyclones held a 23-9 shot advantage, while garnering seven corner kicks. King's goalie Danielle Johnson (Bear Creek, PA/Coughlin) made 11 saves in net, while Ashley Denti finished with four stops.
King's will return to action tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. matchup with Medgar Evers College on day two of the Cyclone Classic.
