KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER BLASTS MEDGAR EVERS, 9-0

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ –Jade Zuniga (left) scored three goals with an assist while Becky Chateauneuf tallied two goals with three assists as the King's College women's soccer team posted a dominating 9-0 victory over Medgar Evers College on the final day of the Centenary College Invitational Tournament Sunday in Hackettstown, NJ.

With the win, King's improved to 1-2 on the year while Medgar Evers fell to 0-2.
 
King's opened the scoring just 2:27 into the game when Chateauneuf scored off an assist from Liz Paese. Zuniga would follow with her first goal just 4:17 later off a second assist from Paese. The onslaught continued as Zuniga added two more goals and Chateauneuf tallied a second, while Lisa Priest also found the back of the net to give the Lady Monarchs a 6-0 halftime lead.

In the second stanza Katie Mangan, Holly Spikol, and Brianne Schmidt all netted one goal apiece to round out the scoring.

Paese registered a pair of assists. Brianne Schmidt also chipped in with one assist as King's outshot Medgar Evers 28-5 on the day. Chateauneuf totaled seven points in the game to equal the third highest single-game total in Lady Monarch history

Danielle Johnson made four saves in goal for King's to post her first collegiate shutout victory.
 
King's will next host Baptist Bible College Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.
