Monarch Soccer Drops First Game of the Season in a 3-0 Loss at Penn State Altoona, King's Surrenders First Goals of the Season in Defeat

PENN STATE ALTOONA HANDS KING'S SOCCER FIRST LOSS OF SEASON, 3-0

ALTOONA – Host Penn State Altoona built a 2-0 half-time lead en route to posting a 3-0 victory over King's College in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday in Altoona. The loss was the first of the season for King's, which slipped to 5-1-1, while Penn State Altoona posted its first victory of the season, improving to 1-5.

King's, which had not surrendered a goal all season entering he contest, fell behind 1-0 Mike Robinson found the back of the net off a pass from Sam Aumiller 14:42 into the contest. The Lions stretched the lead to 2-0 when Brandon Arvey scored off an assist from Robinson 10 minutes later, giving Altoona a 2-0 lead at the break.

Robinson added the final goal of the game off an assist from Justin Fincher with 33:20 remaining in the contest.

The Monarchs, who were outshot 7-1 in the first half, managed a 6-3 shots advantage in the second stanza but were unable to score. The Monarchs posted a 4-3 in corner kicks in the game.

King's goalie Mark Labbadia took his first loss of the year in yielding all three goals in 90 minutes of play.

The Monarchs return to the pitch Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. matchup at Gwynedd-Mercy College.
