KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNED BY ELMIRA, 5-1
ELMIRA, NY – Elmira College built a 4-1 lead en route to a 5-1 victory over visiting King's College in non-conference women's soccer action Saturday in Elmira, NY. With the win, Elmira improved to 4-3 while King's fell to 1-5.
Elmira built a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest. Mikayla Bean took a corner from the left side and found Kelsey Kiel, who redirected the ball with her head off Monarch keeper
Lauren Duguid's hand into the right side of the net. The Soaring Eagles struck again 51 seconds later when Mollie Hamilton found Caitlyn Criscuolo streaking down the center of the field for a 2-0 lead.
Elmira added two more unassisted goals to extend their halftime lead to 4-0.
In the second half King's got on the board when Sarah Beth Kolodziej played a cross from the left side to Angelina Renehan. Renehan paused, as she let the defender go by her and finished with a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Elmira added a final goal in the 82nd minute to seal the victory.
Megan Lowe finished with three saves in net for Elmira, while Duguid made 10 stops in net for the Monarchs.
King's will host SUNY Old Westbury Monday night at 7:00 p.m.
