KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO DEFENDING CHAMPION EASTERN

ST. DAVIDS -- The defending Freedom Conference champion Eastern University women's soccer team built a 2-1 lead and held off an attempt to rally by visiting King's College as the Eagles posted a 2-1 victory Tuesday in St. Davids.

With the victory, Eastern improved to 8-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Freedom Conference play while the Lady Monarchs slipped to 3-10-1. For a young King's team comprised of 20 freshmen the Lady Monarchs continue to play competitively, losing its seventh game one-goal game of the season.

Eastern took a 1-0 lead at the half when Emily Roquemore scored off an Ashley Graybill assist at the 25:10 mark. The score remained the same in the second half until Alysia Goodman scored off a pass from Kelsey Doutrich at 63:39.

King's countered 6:10 later when Liz Paese scored unassisted at 69:49 but the Lady Monarchs would draw no closer.

Lady Monarch goalie Jessica Natale made six saves in goal for King's, which next travels to Dallas on Friday to face local rival Misericordia University in a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
