KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO 1ST PLACE MISERICORDIA, 5-2
WILKES-BARRE — Host Misericordia University opened a 4-1 halftime lead and never trailed as the host Cougars posted a 5-2 Freedom Conference victory over visiting King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Friday in Dallas.
With the win, Misericordia improved to 13-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the Freedom Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 3-11 and 1-5.
The Cougars used goals by Nicolette Hensel, Laura Roney and Megan Lannigan to open a 3-0 lead after just 19 minutes of play. King's finally got on the board when
Ivy Nulton scored off an assist from Brydie Billespie at the 25:26 mark. Misericordia took a 4-1 lead into the half-time break when on a goal from Sam Helmstetter at 33:06.
In the second half , King's cut the lead to 4-2 when
Sarah Borajkiewicz scored unassisted at 60:11 but Misericordia scored the final goal of the game with 10 minutes left when Eric McGreal scored an unassisted goal of her own.
Misericordia owned a 25-8 advantage in shots and a 10-1 lead in corner kicks.
Lauren Duguid made 12 saves for King's.
King's returns to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Game at Rosemont College.
