Box Score King's Men's Soccer Drops Hard-Fought 2-1 Decision to Misericordia
Dallas, Pa.-- The King's College men's soccer team battled conference leading Misericordia, but came up just short as the Monarchs fell 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (11-4-2, 5-0-1 Freedom) got on the board first when Andy Bush converted on a penalty kick just 1:03 into the contest.
David Stroh evened the game for King's (10-4-1, 4-2) when he floated a header over the Misericordia keeper to the far post.
Kevin Buchanan picked up an assist on the goal.
After back and forth action at the start of the second half Misericordia scored the eventual game winner when Nick von Egypt found a ball after a scrum in front of the net and scored the game-winner.
The Monarchs were out shot 27-6 overall, but the teams were even at seven on corner kicks.
Mark Labbadia took the loss for King's in net making four saves. Billy Sopko picked up the win between the pipes for the Cougars making three stops.
King's steps out of conference play on Tuesday when it travels to Susquehanna for a 7:00 p.m. start.
