KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT DESALES, 2-1

CENTER VALLEY -- Jamie Barna scored twice, including the game-winner with 7:35 remaining, as the DeSales University women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over visiting King's College Saturday in Center Valley.

With the win, DeSales
improved to 6-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom Conference while King's slipped to 2-7-1 and 0-2 in league play. For a young and improving Lady Monarch squad consisting of 20 freshmen, the game marked another growing pain as the team suffered its fifth one-goal loss this season.

King's took a 1-0 half-time lead
when Lindsey Humanik scored off an assist by Erin Laird 9:13 into the match.

DeSales knotted the score 3:01
into the second half when Barna scored following a pass from Alyssa Brandt. The Bulldogs then scored what proved to be the game-winner when Barna found the back of the net off an assist from Alyssa Borgesi at the 82:25 mark.

DeSales
led King's in shots 14-9 and also held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Lady Monarch goalie Lauren Duguid made seven saves while DeSales keeper Alex Bastinelli posted one stop.

King's will return home Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs host Delaware Valley at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
