King's Football Hosting Lebanon Valley Saturday on Senior Day

KING'S FOOTBALL HOSTING LEBANON VALLEY SATURDAY FOR SENIOR DAY

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College football team will play its final home game of the 2012 campaign when the Monarchs host Lebanon Valley College at 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.

The contest will also mark Senior Day at King's where 10 Monarchs will play their final home game at McCarthy Stadium. Those players include Ryan Cordingly (Berwick/Berwick), Evan Crisman (Berwick/Berwick), Ron Garrett (Columbus, NJ/North Burlington), Matt Henry (Whitehall/Whitehall), Ryan Kelly (Boonton, NJ/Parsippany Hills), Adam Kudlacik (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills), Jake Lehnowsky (Mountain Top/Crestwood), Kevin Miller (Ambler/Lansdale Catholic), Seth Powers (West Islip, NY/St. John the Baptist), and Duron Wilson (Downington/Downingtown East).

King's (2-6) is looking to reach the three-win plateau for the first time since the 2009 season when the Monarchs went 3-7 in the last year of former head coach Rich Mannello's tenure. The Monarchs are also looking for their first two-game winning streak since 2008 when King's posted back-to-back victories over Lycoming (24-7) and FDU-Florham (16-8).

Lebanon Valley, meanwhile, was eliminated from MAC title contention last week with a loss to Delaware Valley but look in the hunt for an ECAC Bowl berth. The Flying Dutchmen are also attempting to win a sixth straight victory over King's, dating back to the 2007 campaign.

Today's game marks week-nine for both King's and Lebanon Valley. King's enters the contest with a 2-6 overall record while standing 2-5 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Lebanon Valley is 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the MAC

ABOUT THE SERIES:
This is the 14th meeting between the programs with Lebanon Valley owning a 7-6 advantage. The Flying Dutchmen won last year's contest 54-7 in Annville. The Monarchs are looking to post their first victory over Lebanon Valley since a 10-0 home triumph in 2006. The Monarchs had won four straight over Lebanon Valley from 2003-2006 before the Dutchmen captured the last five meetings since 2007. Although both schools hold membership in the MAC, the teams did not play in 1993, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002 due to the MAC's former alignment that featured teams split into Freedom and Commonwealth leagues with periodic cross-over play with select teams.

THE COACHES:
Monarch mentor Jeff Knarr is in his third season of rebuilding the program at King's and owns a 4-24 career record. Jim Monos is in his second stint as Lebanon Valley head coach and is 87-103-2 overall.

LAST GAME:
King's played at home and posted a 34-21 victory over Stevenson. Lebanon Valley was also home and dropped a 31-10 decision to Delaware Valley College

KING'S ON OFFENSE: MULTIPLE-I
The King's offense is currently ranked eighth in the MAC with an average of 303.0 total yards per-game. The Monarchs stand eighth in rushing with 136.4 yards per-game and are also rated eighth in passing with 166.6 yards. The King's offense is under the direction of sophomore quarterback Tyler Hartranft who has started the past seven games. Hartranft has completed 99-of-198 passes for 1,243 yards with five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Sophomore tailback Kyle McGrath ranks second in the MAC in rushing with 836 yards on 158 carries with seven touchdowns and averages 5.3 yards each attempt. He has also caught 13 passes out of the backfield for 134 yards and one score. Junior tailback Judens Goimbert has been solid off the bench, adding 216 yards on 52 carries while averaging 4.2 yards per-carry. He has also contributed 10 receptions for 41 yards and one score. Sophomore split end Dan Kempa has a team-high 18 receptions for 339 yards with one touchdown. Senior split end Adam Kudlacik follows with 16 catches for 236 yards while junior wideout Josh Sanders adds 13 receptions for 151 yards. Senior tight end Matt Henry has caught nine passes for 129 yards.

LEBANON VALLEY ON OFFENSE: MULTIPLE/PRO-STYLE
The Lebanon Valley offense is ranked fifth in the MAC with an average of 370.5 yards of total offense per-game. The Flying Dutchmen are fourth in rushing at 168.6 yards each contest while also standing fourth in passing with 201.9 yards every game. Running the Lebanon Valley offense is senior quarterback Leo Kyte who has completed 95-of-165 passes for 1,359 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Leading the Dutchmen rushing attack is senior tailback Pete Panichi who has 122 carries for 582 yards while averaging 4.8 yards per-attempt. Senior Conrad Heisey follows with 210 yards on 64 carries while junior fullback Evan Fink contributes 196 yards on 65 attempts. Leading the receiving corp. is junior Joe Miller who has made 39 receptions for 570 yards and six touchdowns. Junior Jake Zeigler follows with 38 catches for 564 yards and two scores.

KING'S ON DEFENSE: MULTIPLE 3-4
King's defense is ranked fifth in the MAC, allowing an average of 360.9 total yards per-game. The Monarchs are rated fourth against the run, yielding 145.2 yards each contest while standing eighth against the pass in giving up 199.8 yards every game. Leading the way defensively for King's is senior linebacker Ryan Kelly with 57 total tackles with four tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one recovery. Junior safety Kris Matthews also adds 57 total tackles with five pass breaks, one forced fumble and a recovery.

Junior linebacker Jake Ksiazkiewicz has 45 tackles with 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. Fellow junior linebacker Ben Ray adds 42 tackles with a fumble recovery. Senior linebacker Ryan Cordingly is back from the injury list and has 35 tackles with 3.0 tackles for loss in four games. Senior defensive end Ron Garrett has registered 31 tackles with 7.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Sophomore linebacker Chad Curtice has made 24 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss while senior defensive back Evan Crisman has 23 tackles and an interception.

LEBANON VALLEY ON DEFENSE: 3-4
Defensively, Lebanon Valley is ranked sixth overall in the MAC in allowing an average of 369.1 total yards. The Flying Dutchmen stand seventh against the run in yielding 166.4 yards per-game while rating seventh versus the pass in permitting 202.8 yards.

Junior nose-guard Kevin Smith tops the squad with 43 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Sophomore defensive end Joey Scerbo follows with 42 tackles, including 4.0 tackles for loss. Senior linebacker D.J. Poligone adds 40 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss .Junior linebacker David Kennedy contributes 37 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss while junior safety Bryan Kaspar has tallied 35 stops. Senior cornerback Jerome Duncan checks in with 33 tackles and an interception while junior defensive end Zach Halpin has posted 30 tackles and an interception.

NEXT WEEK:
King's will resume action on Saturday, November 10 when the Monarchs travel to face cross-town rival Wilkes University at 12:00 noon in the annual Mayor's Cup Game at Schmidt Stadium.
