As a part of the MAC 100-year celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per-team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter. Century Teams will be announced at the conclusion of each respective sport season
Wychock and Quinones were named to the 203-2011 MAC era while Mitchell was selected to the 1993-2002 era.
Wychock (Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin) played at King's from 2005-08 and was a three-time All-Freedom Conference selection. She also helped lead King's to Freedom Conference championships in 2006 and 2007 with NCAA Division III National Tournament berths each season. As a senior in 2008, she led the Freedom Conference in scoring with a school single-season record of 68 points on a school-record 31 goals and six assists.
Wychock broke her own previous record of 61 points set in 2006 where her 25 goals still ranks as the second-most in program history. For her career, she still stands as King's all-time leading scorer with 163 points on another school-record 72 goals with 19 assists.
Quinones (Wilkes-Barre/Meyers) was also a three-time All-Freedom Conference selection who was named the league most valuable player in 2010 and 2011. She was a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-South Atlantic Region selection and became the first player in Lady Monarch history to be named to the NFHCA Division III All-American squad. In addition, she was also the first King's player selected to play in the NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star Classic.
She capped off her King's tenure with a spectacular senior year, leading the Freedom Conference with career highs of 56 points on 22 goals and a school-record 12 assists, outdistancing the conference's second leading scorer by 19 points despite playing three less games. Her 56 points ranks as the fourth-highest season total in school history. In addition, her 157 total points, 63 goals, and 31 assists are all second on King's all-time list.
Mitchell (Cazenovia, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) was a four-year letter-winner and three year starter at King's from 1998-2001. As a standout defender, Mitchell was a major part of a King's program that was going through a rebuilding process. In her freshman year at King's, the Lady Monarchs went 4-15, but Mitchell and her teammates turned the program around and went. King's went 13-5, 12-7, 11-7 the next three years, signifying the beginning of a run in which the Lady Monarchs have won at least 10 games each season from 1999 through 2012. Mitchell played in 69 games in her four years at King's.
The remainder of the Fall Sports Century teams will be announced daily over the course of this week.
