KING'S GRADS WILSON, DOSTER, SAXON NAMED TO MAC ALL-CENTURY FOOTBALL TEAM

ANNVILLE — After enjoying outstanding careers as members of the King's College football team in the early 2000's, former Monarch greats Steven Wilson, Rubin Doster, and Damon Saxon have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Century Football Team, the MAC announced Friday morning.
As a part of the MAC 100-year celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship.
The number of individuals selected per-team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter. Century Teams will be announced at the conclusion of each respective sport season.
Wilson was named to the 2002-2011 era, while Doster and Saxon were selected to the 1993-2001 era. The three played together in 2000 when the Monarchs won the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southwest Regional Bowl. Doster and Wilson coupled for two more championships as the Monarchs captured the 2001 ECAC Southeast Bowl a well as the 2002 MAC championship. In addition, the Monarchs reached the 2002 NCAA Division III National Playoff "Sweet 16".
Saxon concluded his King's career in the 2000 season, enjoying an epic senior year at tailback. Saxon led the nation in rushing with a NCAA Division III-best 174.4 yards-per-game rushing average, concluding the regular-season with 1,744 yards. At the time, the NCAA did not allow the inclusion of post-season statistics and Saxon rushed for an additional 289 yards against Ursinus in the 2002 ECAC Southwest Regional Bowl, to accumulate 2,033 yards, a total which is not officially recognized by the NCAA.
Saxon received a number awards as a senior, including 2000 All-MAC First-Team, 2000 ECAC First-Team, Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-South Region First-Team, Hwelett-Packard First-Team All-American, D3Football.com First-Team All-American, and Don Hansen's Football Gazette First-Team All-American. In addition, he was named the 2000 MAC Player of the Year and was a finalist for 2000 Melberger Award honoring the Division III National Player of the Year.
Doster enjoyed an outstanding career at King's as a defensive tackle. A three-year letter-man, Doster posted 199 total tackles. Over the course of his career he registered 59.5 tackles for losses of 314 yards, including 31 quarterback sacks for losses of 225 yards. His best statistical season came in 202 when he tallied 67 tackles with 26.0 tackles for 157 yards in losses, including 15.5 sacks for 130 yards.
He was a three-time All-MAC selection, while being named to the 2000 ECAC South Region First-Team, 2000 Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-South Region First-Team, the 2000 Hewlett-Packard Third-Team All-American, the 2000 D3Football.com All-American Third-Team, and was named the 2002 King's vs. Wilkes Mayor's Cup Game Most Valuable Player.
Wilson, meanwhile, stands as the most decorated player in King's history. A three-year starter and four-year letterman at defensive end, Wilson posted astounding statistics, several of which still ranks first in NCAA Division III football history. In his four years with the Monarchs, Wilson made 273 tackles with school records of 117.5 tackles for losses of 735 yards, including school-records of 57 sacks for 516 yards. In his junior year in 2001, Wilson had 38.5 tackles for losses of 260 yards while tallying 19.5 sacks for 167 yards. AS a senior in 2002, he registered 39.0 tackles for losses of 229 yards while tallying 17.0 sacks for 159 yards.
Wilson was a three-time All-MAC selection, the 2002 MAC "Defensive Player of the Year," and the 2002 MAC "Player of the Year." He was a 2001 and 2002 ECAC South Region First-Team and a three-time Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-South Region First-Team choice. Wilson was a two-time Don Hansen's Football Gazette First-Team All-American, a two-time Hewlett-Packard First-Team All-American, a two-time D3Football.com First-Team All-American, a two-time American Football Coaches Association First-Team All-American, and was named to the 2002 Associated Press Little All-American Team. Wilson was the 2002 Division III National "Defensive Player of the Year"and was a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy, honoring the Division III "National Player of the Year."
