KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE, 2-0


WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team broke open a scoreless game at the half with a pair of second-half goals as the Lady Monarchs registered a 2-0 victory over visiting Baptist Bible College Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, King's improved to 2-3-1 while the Defenders slipped to 1-3-1.

The Lady Monarchs missed out on a first-half scoring opportunity at 13:01 when an Erin Laird penalty kick was saved by Defender goalie Katelyn King.

King's eventually reached the scoring column with 34:41 left in the contest when Laird scored her second goal of the year off an assist from Shaina Dougherty.

The Lady Monarchs pushed the score to 2-0 with 31:58 remaining on an unassisted goal by freshman Ivy Nulton
, who tallied the first goal of her collegiate career.

King's outshot Baptist Bible 20-5 and held a 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalies Jessica Natale
and Erin Dempsey combined for three saves. King made seven stops for the Defenders

King's returns to action Saturday night when the Lady Monarchs host Albright College at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
