KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS 4-2 DECISION TO WASHINGTON
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Heather Smith scored twice and the host Washington College women's soccer team overcame a 2-0 deficit to rally past visiting King's College 4-2 Wednesday night in Chestertown, Md.
With the win, Washington improved to 4-4 on the year while King's slipped to 2-5-1.
The Lady Monarchs took a 1-0 lead when Lindsay Humanik scored unassisted 14:40 into the match. The score grew to 2-0 when Ivy Nulton struck net off a Humanik pass just 2:17 later.
Washington trimmed the lead to 2-1 when Heather Smith made good on a penalty kick at the 18:53 mark. The Shorewomen then knotted the score at 40:13 when Smith scored her second goal unassisted to send the teams into the halftime break deadlocked at 2-2.
Washington took a 3-2 lead at 55:19 on a Katie Bradley goal. The Shorewomen pushed across the final goal of the game at the 79:09 mark when Suzanne Pantinella scored off a rebound at 79:09 to bring the score to 4-2.
King's was outshot 18-8 in the game while the teams took four corner kicks each. Erin Dempsey made four saves playing one half for King's while Jessica Natale posted one stop.
The Lady Monarchs travel to Purchase, NY on Saturday to face Manhattanville College at 1:00 p.m.
