King's Men's Soccer Falls in Hard-Fought Conference Opener at Manhattanville
Purchase, N.Y.-- The King's College men's soccer team battled, but dropped a 1-0 decision to host Manhattanville Saturday in the Freedom Conference opener for both teams.
Kyle Cassidy netted the Valiants (4-4-2, 1-0 Freedom) goal in the 78th minute on a header off a corner kick. Erick Olazabal picked up the assist on the goal.
The Monarchs (5-3-1, 0-1) had a 15-11 advantage in shots including an 11-5 edge in the first half, but Manhattanville keeper Steve Singson made seven stops to keep King's off the board.
Chris Nygren led King's with four shots, two of them on goal.

Kevin Buchanan each had two shots.
Brandon Raynor took the loss in the net for the Monarchs allowing just the one goal while making six saves.
The Monarchs will travel to Ursinus on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. The match will start at 7:00 p.m.
