King's Women's Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision to Manhattanville in Freedom Conference Opener
Purchase, N.Y.-- The King's College women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Manhattanville in its Freedom Conference opener Saturday.
Erin Laird got the Lady Monarchs off to a fast start netting her third goal of the year when she finished a
Taylor Sweeney through ball in the fourth minute to put King's (2-6-1, 0-1 Freedom) up 1-0.
Manhattanville answered back with an unassisted tally by Rebecca Breve to tie the game in the 28th minute. The Valiants (5-5, 1-0) took the lead in the 31st minute on a goal by Erika Deetjen.
The Lady Monarchs were out shot 14-4, but keeper
Lauren Duguid made seven saves to keep King's in the game. Each team had three corner kicks.
King's returns to action on Wednesday when they host New Jersey City College at McCarthy Stadium at 4:00 p.m.
