King's Basketball Teams Travel to DeSales for Freedom Conference Matchups


Center Valley, Pa. – The King's College men's and women's basketball teams continue Freedom Conference play on Saturday when both squads travel to DeSales University in Center Valley.  The women's game starts at 1:00 p.m. with the men's game following at 3:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the Freedom Conference after a 74-61 victory over Misericordia. The Lady Monarchs are paced by senior guard Katlin Michaels who is averaging 14.5 points per game after tallying a career-high 28 against Misericordia. Michaels also notches 6.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per contest. Celia Rader chips in 14.1 points and is now just 18 points from becoming the 19th player in King's history to join the 1,000 point club.

Senior Lindsay Atchison adds 10.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Jennifer Fabian averages 5.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per outing. The Lady Monarchs won the first meeting between the teams 64-61 on January 9th in Scandlon Gym.

DeSales comes in at 12-6 overall and 4-3 in league play after a 74-71 win over Manhattanville. Three Lady Bulldogs average double-figures scoring led by Sondrine Glovas with 18.1 points. She also grabs 6.5 boards per game. Alexiah Grant adds 12.2 points and 2.0 helpers per outing. Colleen Gavin leads the team with 7.3 rebounds to go with 11.8 points per contest.

On the men's side King's is 8-10 overall and 3-4 in the Freedom after a 63-54 loss at Misericordia on Wednesday. Junior guard Kyle Hammonds leads the Monarchs with 13.4 points per game as well as 3.7 rebounds. Senior Matt Fiorino tacks on 11.6 points per contest and has hit 48 three-pointers this year. Tim O'Shea has provided a lift off the bench with 8.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

The Bulldogs are 15-3 overall and 7-0 in the Freedom Conference after a 69-64 win over Manhattanville. Brett Moyer notches 16.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Paul Pammer chips in 11.1 and 4.7 boards per contest. Michael Coleman is the third DeSales player in double figures with 11.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

DeSales won the first meeting 69-55 on January 9th in Wilkes-Barre.
