KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS 4-3 IN DOUBLE-OT

DOYLESTOWN – Mary Taylor scored the winning goal with just 0:43 left in the second overtime as the host Delaware Valley College women's soccer team posted a 4-3 victory over visiting King's College Saturday in Doylestown.

With the loss, King's slipped to 6-5-1 overall and 1-1 in the Freedom Conference.  Delaware Valley, meanwhile, improved to 4-9-1 and 1-1.

King's fell behind 3-0 at the half but used a furious second-half rally to send the game to overtime.  The Lady Monarchs got on board on an own goal when a shot off the crossbar bounced off an Aggie player and into the net at the 79:34 mark. Two minutes later Alexandra Garrett struck net off an assist by Christina Nassaney to trim the lead to 3-2.  King's would eventually tie the score at 79:00 when Kylie Borick scored on an assist by Garrett to even the game at 3-3.

After a scoreless first extra-session and nine minutes of the second overtime, the teams appeared headed to a tie. But Taylor took a crossing pass from Sam Ricks to score the winning goal.

King's outshot Delaware Valley 24-12 while the Aggies owned a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.  King's starting goalie Jessica Natale allowed three goals with three saves in playing the first half while Lauren Duguid played the second half and overtime, yielding one goal while making two saves.

King's returns to the field Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home matchup against Misericordia at McCarthy Stadium.
