KING'S FOOTBALL TRAVELING TO FACE MAC CO-LEADER DELAWARE VALLEY

WILKES-BARRE — After winning its last three games, the King's College football team will look to make it four in a row when the Monarchs face one of its biggest games of the season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference matchup against league co-leader Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
King's enters the matchup riding three consecutive victories, the first such streak since 2006. The Monarchs have posted wins over Misericordia (42-41 OT), FDU-Florham (52-21) and Stevenson (31-24). Against Delaware Valley, however, King's will face an established program that has won or shared four of the past five MAC championships.
The game with Delaware Valley on Saturday signifies the beginning of King's most difficult stretch of the year as King's plays its next three games against current MAC co-leaders before facing its cross-town rival in the season-finale.
After playing Delaware Valley on Saturday, the Monarchs return November 2
nd to host current MAC co-leader Lycoming. The team then travels the following week to play defending MAC champion Widener, also currently tied for first-place in the MAC with Lycoming, Delaware Valley, and Lebanon Valley. The Monarchs then wrap up the season November 16 when King's hosts the annual Mayor's Cup Game against archrival Wilkes.

ABOUT THE GAME:
The game will mark the first time since 2006 that the Monarchs were mathematically alive in the MAC title hunt in week-six. King's is 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the MAC and only a game behind the conference leaders. Delaware Valley is 5-1 overall and 4-1 in the MAC and tied with Lebanon Valley, Lycoming, and Widener who are all also 4-1 in the MAC. A King's victory would also give the program its first four-game winning streak since the 2006 squad won five consecutive games.
ABOUT THE SERIES:
This is the 27
th all-time meeting between the teams with the Delaware Valley owning a 16-10 mark. The Aggies have won nine straight games from 2004-2012, while King's had posted a six-game winning streak from 1998-2003. The Monarchs' last win over Delaware Valley was a 35-23 triumph on October 11, 2003 in Doylestown.
ABOUT THE COACHES:
Monarch mentor Jeff Knarr is in his fourth season of rebuilding the program at King's and owns a 7-27 career record. Aggie coach Jim Clements is in his eighth season and owns a 64-21 mark.
LAST WEEK:
King's opened a 14-0 lead at Stevenson, but fell behind 24-14, only to rally for a 31-24 victory in Owings Mill, Md. Delaware Valley won a Friday night matchup at FDU-Florham by a 45-30 margin after trailing 30-29 midway through the third quarter.
KING'S ON OFFENSE: MULTIPLE I
King's enters today's game averaging 31.5 points and 18.5 first downs per-game, while averaging 41.3 points over the last three games. The Monarchs rank sixth in the MAC with 357.8 total yards per-game. King's is third in the MAC with 215.5 passing yards each contest while standing sixth in rushing yards at 142.5 per-contest. Tyler Hartranft is sixth in the MAC with a 125.0 pass efficiency rating, having completed 79-of-161 passes for 1,220 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Junior tailback
Kyle McGrath, the MAC's second-leading rusher in 2012, has 495 yards on 128 carries with six touchdowns. McGrath, who has reached the 100-yard plateau two of his last three contests, is averaging 82.5 yards per-game.

Judens Goimbert two weeks against FDU, the Monarchs have received excellent play from sophomore tailback
Patrick Robinson. Against FDU, Robinson rushed for a career-high 94 yards while catching four passes for 80 yards and one touchdown. Last week at Stevenson, he added 77 yards and a score.
King's receiving corps is led by junior Dan Kemp with 34 catches for 659 yards and six touchdowns. Kempa ranks second in the MAC with 109.8 receiving yards per-game. He is also third in the MAC with a 24.4 yards per-kickoff return average and fourth with a 7.0 yards per-punt return average. Senior split end
Josh Sanders is second on the team with nine catches for 204 yards and two touchdowns while posting a MAC second-ranked 22.7 yards per-catch average.
DELAWARE VALLEY ON OFFENSE: MULTIPLE
The Aggies currently rank first in MAC scoring with 33.2 points per-game and average 20.6 first downs each contest. Delaware Valley stands first in the MAC in total offense with 418.0 yards per-game. The Aggies are second in rushing with 206.0 yards and fifth in passing at 212.0 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Aaron Wilmer is expected to return to the line-up after missing last week's game. Wilmer is ranked fifth in the MAC with a 133.2 passing efficiency rating and has completed 82-of-140 passes for 1,072 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions. A capable runner, Wilmer is elusive in the pocket and has rushed for 168 yards on 51 carries with two scores. The Aggies also feature the top running back in the MAC in senior Kyle Schuberth.
The Aggie standout tops the MAC with 154.0 rushing yards per-game and, despite missing two games, has accounted for 616 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 109 carries. Last week Schuberth earned MAC "Offensive "Player of the Week" honors after rushing for 183 yards on 35 carries against FDU-Florham. The total upped his career mark to 3,044 yards to become just the third player in program history to surpass the 3,000-yard plateau.
The Aggie receivers are also solid as junior Rasheed Bailey tops the team with 25 catches for 513 yards and three touchdowns while senior Lewis Vincent follows with 24 receptions for 323 yards and three scores.
KING'S ON DEFENSE: MULTIPLE 3-4
Defensively, the Monarchs have allowed 32.0 points per-game and an average of 359.3 yards of total offense per-game. King's has yielded 134.3 rushing yards per-game, the fourth best figure in the MAC while surrendering 225.0 passing yards to stand seventh. Junior linebacker
Nick Kaijala leads the team with 44 total tackles with 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. Sophomore defensive back
Anthony Martuccio has contributed with 42 tackles, one interception, and a forced fumble while senior linebacker
Jake Ksiazkiewicz follows with 40 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. Junior linebacker
Chad Curtice has 36 tackles with 4.0 quarterback sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.

Tyler Cruz to the starting line-up. Cruz missed two full games with an injury but did see some action off the bench last week against Stevenson.
DELAWARE VALLEY ON DEFENSE: MULTIPLE
Defensively, Defensively, Delaware Valley stands fourth in MAC total defense, allowing 346.5 yards per-game. The Aggies are seventh against the run in yielding 164.0 yards while standing atop the MAC in allowing only 182.5 passing yards each contest.
The unit is paced by sophomore safety Danny Wynne with 65 tackles. Senior linebacker John Marcelline follows with 44 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. Junior linebacker Bernard Avery has also tallied 44 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack. Sophomore linebacker Ken Kenner-English adds 35 tackles with five pass breaks while senior cornerback Chris Vega has contributed 31 tackles with two interceptions. Senior defensive end Matt Hoch has tallied 26 tackles with 2.5 sacks while sophomore defensive end Rashaad Lighty has also registered 26 tackles with 2.0 sacks.
GARRETT REMAINS IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
King's senior defensive end
Ron Garrett continues to draw nation attention. The 6-1, 247-pound team captain registered a 20-yard touchdown fumble return last week against Stevenson, marking the fifth straight game he has scored a defensive touchdown. Three weeks ago his return against Misericordia was honored as the
D3Football.com "Play of the Week". The play against Misericordia was also nominated for the
"Geico Play of the Year" program. In addition, his fourth return against FDU-Florham was featured on Tuesday's
CBS Sports Network. The play also helped garner him a spot in
Sports Illustrated Magazine's Faces in the Crowd in the October 21 edition.
On Monday, Garrett was named the MAC "Defensive Player of the Week" against Stevenson as he posted six tackles with two tackles for loss and one sack to go along with his 20-yard fumble-return for a touchdown.
In addition, Garrett was discussed on Saturday's ESPN College Game Day and he was again featured Tuesday on CBS Sports Network.

On September 21 he scored on a 95-yard fumble-return against Lebanon Valley College.
On September 29 he scored on a 54-yard return of a blocked field goal off a lateral against Albright College.
On October 5, he scored on a 48-yard fumble return against Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa.
On October 12,
Garrett scored a defensive touchdown for the fourth straight game with a 22-yard fumble return against FDU-Florham.
