King's Swimmers Drop Season Opener to Marywood, Will Host Drew Saturday in Home Debut

KING'S SWIMMERS FALL TO MARYWOOD

SCRANTON — The King's College swim teams dropped their 2013-14 season debut to host Marywood University Friday night in Scranton. The Lady Monarchs fell by the score of 142-120 while the Monarchs men lost 196-58.

For the women, Macawley Brown won three events, including the 100-butterfly with a 1:02.31,  the 100-freestyle at 57.57, and the 50-butterfly with a time of 28.23. Patricia Manning captured the 400 individual medley at 4:48.66 and was also second in the 200-freestyle with a 2:10.33.

Brigid Wynn was a winner in the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:06.88 and finished second in the 100-backstroke at 1:05.26. Erin McLin captured the 50-backstroke with a time of 31.36 while Caroline Fitch won the 500-freestyle at 5:49.54 and was second in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 12:01.37.

For the men, Michael Sweeney was second in the 100-freestyle at 51.34 while Kyle Newton was second in the 100-backstroke with a 1:00.06.  Josh Shoemaker was second in the 50-freestyle with a time of 30.18 while Joe Ciccarelli touched second in the 400 individual medley at 4:52.41.

King's will host Drew University Saturday at 1 PM in Scandlon Gym.
