Box Score King's Men's Soccer Clinches Freedom Conference Playoff Berth With 2-0 Victory Over DeSales
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's soccer team punched their ticket to the Freedom Conference postseason with a 2-0 victory over DeSales Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.
After a scoreless first half the Monarchs were able to get on the board in the 76th minute when
Chris Nygren, back after missing the last three games, buried a shot off an
Andrew Tuminello rebound to put King's up 1-0.
Ritchie Reyes tacked on an insurance tally in the 80th minute deflected a
Niall Croke one-time shot just inside the left post to set the final.
The Monarchs dominated the flow of play out shooting the the Bulldogs 16-2 on the night. The corner kicks were even at three apiece.
Mark Labbadia picked up the win in net making one save and tallying his fifth shutout of 2013. Colin Sulpizio took the loss for DeSales making five stops.
The Monarchs earned the third seed in the Freedom Conference tournament and will travel to Misericordia for a 7:00 p.m. start.
