King's Swim Teams Sweep Cabrini, Cedar Crest

KING'S SWIMMERS SWEEP CABRINI, CEDAR CREST

FULL MEET RESULTS

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College swim teams posted respective victories Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium. The Lady Monarchs posted a 111-77 victory over Cabrini College while adding a 119-36 triumph over Cedar Crest College. The King's men tallied a 100-67 triumph over Cabrini. Cedar Crest does not field a men's team.

With their two victories, the King's women improved to 3-1 on the year and have won their last three meets while the Monarchs men are 2-1 on the year. The much-improved King's men have already equaled their victory total from the entire 2012-13 campaign.

For the women, freshman Brigid Wynn touched first in the 200 Individual medley with a 2:25.54 and also won the 500-freestyle at 5:41.85.  Patricia Manning captured the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:11.19 as well as the 200-breaststroke at 2:37.87.

Macawley Brown won the 200-butterfly at 2:24.01 while Erin McLin was victorious in the 200-backstroke with a 2:21.48. Caroline Fitch was second in the 100-freestyle with a time of 12:10.63 while Marybeth Rudy was runner-up in the 200-freestyle at 2:20.62. Chrissy O'Loughlin was also second in the 200-butterfly with a 2:36.82.

King's 400-medley relay team of McLin, Brown, Manning, and Wynn were winners with a time of 4:22.52.

Kyle Newton captured the 200-freestyle at 1:58.32 and the 200-butterfly with a 2:15.22.  Josh Shoemaker won the 50-freestyle with a 23.11 and the 100-freestyle at 51.14. Michael Sweeney won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 10:52.66 and was also second in the 100-freestyle at 52.86.

Joe Ciccarelli touched first in the 200-backstroke with a 2:16.17 and was also second in the 200-individual medley at 2:16.21. Andrew Reimann was first in the 500-freestyle with a 5:39.39 and also placed second in the 200-freestyle at 1:59.71.  Matt Dickson was second in the 200-breaststroke at 2:27.45 while Matt Thompson was also second in the 200-butterfly with a 2:21.93.

King's swimmers return to action Wednesday when both teams travel to Dallas to face local rival Misericordia University at 7:00 PM.
