King's Basketball Teams Continue Freedom Conference Play at Delaware Valley


Doylestown, Pa. – The King's College men's and women's basketball teams travel to Doylestown to take on Delaware Valley in a Freedom Conference doubleheader with the women's game tip-off at 6:00 p.m. and the men's game to follow at 8:00 p.m.

The Lady Monarchs are 16-5 overall and 8-2 in the Freedom Conference following a 66-45 victory over conference-leading FDU-Florham on Saturday. The Aggies bring a 9-12 overall record and 3-7 mark in league play after a 57-52 win against Eastern.

Senior guard Katlin Michaels leads the way for King's with 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.6 steals per game, all team-highs. Michaels is also just 54 points shy of becoming the 20th player in King's history to reach the 1,000 points plateau. Fellow senior Celia Rader adds 13.8 points per game while connecting on 59 three-pointers on the season.

Lindsay Atchison is the third Lady Monarch to average double-figure scoring with 10.2 points and 5.7 boards per contest. Freshman Jennifer Fabian has stepped into the starting lineup in the last five games and tallied her first career double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds against FDU-Florham. Molly Dahl adds 6.1 points and 5.2 boards per game to the King's front line.

Delaware Valley has three scorers averaging double figure scoring led by Brenna Coll. She is just shy of a season double-double with 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. Eireann Anastasi adds 13.8 points and 4.2 boards per game. Emily Soper chips in 12.2 points and a team-leading 9.8 rebounds per game.

The King's men are on the outside looking in at the Freedom Conference playoffs at 9-12 overall and 4-6 in league play following a 54-50 loss to FDU-Florham. Delaware Valley is tied for the league lead at 14-7 overall and 8-2 in conference after beating Eastern 73-61.

The Monarch offense is paced by junior guard Kyle Hammonds with his 12.8 points per game. Senior Matt Fiorino adds 11.1 points while connecting on 55-of-134 three-point field goals. Keyton Winder adds 8.3 points per game after going for 16 against FDU on Saturday.

Tim O'Shea has provided a lift off the bench for King's with 8.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Senior Ian Oakley leads the team with 3.4 assists per game while also grabbing 5.8 rebounds and scoring 4.5 points.

Delaware Valley is led by a season double-double from Jeremy Becket with 16.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Daulton Derr adds 13.8 points and 4.5 boards per contest. Jay Donovan also scores in double figures with 10.6 points per outing.

After the matchups with Delaware Valley the King's basketball teams will make their final road trip of the regular season on Saturday when they go to Purchase, N.Y. to take on Manhattanville.
