KING'S FIELD UPENDS SUSQUEHANNA, 4-1

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College field hockey team broke open a game tied at the half with three second-half goals as the Lady Monarchs upended visiting Susquehanna University 4-1 Saturday at McCarthy Stadium in the Betzler Athletic Complex.

With the win, King's improved to 3-2 on the year while Susquehanna slipped to 5-2. 

Alyssa Monaghan gave King's a 1-0 lead with 16:03 left in the first half when she converted a penalty stroke.

Susquehanna tied the game with 3:47 left in the half when Lauren Cram scored off an assist by Erica Reocart12 from 11 with 3:47 left in the half.

In the second half King's took a 2-1 lead when Abby McManus struck net on an assist from Alyssa Monaghan with 19 minutes left.
Meghan Lermond pushed the score to 3-1 just 2:16 later when she knocked in a pass from across the goal mouth from Kim Howanitz. The Lady Monarchs brought the final score to 4-1 when Courtney Schaffer drilled in a shot from just inside the circle with 7:09 remaining.

The teams were tied with 10 shots apiece while Susquehanna held a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners.
King's goalie Megan Withrow posted six saves whole Crusader keeper Margaret Ruth had three stops.
King's returns to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home matchup with the University of Scranton at McCarthy Stadium.
