King's Basketball Teams Hosting Eastern Saturday, Swimmers Home versus Albright

KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HOSTING EASTERN, SWIMMERS HOSTING ALBRIGHT

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College basketball teams return to action on Saturday as both squads play host to Eastern University on a Freedom Conference doubleheader in Scandlon Gymnasium.  The women tip-off at 1:00 p.m. With the men to follow at 3:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the King's swim teams host traditional MAC power Albright at 1:00 p.m.

King's women enters the Freedom Conference tilt with a 4-10 overall mark and an 0-3 record in league play after falling 85-64 to DeSales on Wednesday. The Lady Monarchs are allowing 74.1 points per game while tallying 63.7 points per contest. King's has had balance on offense with three different players averaging double-figure points. Senior Marissa Manning leads the way with 14.2 points per game to go with 7.6 rebounds and 12 blocks on the season.

Kayla Feairheller chips in 12.0 points and posts 5.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore Jennifer Fabian adds 10.4 points per game while leading the team with 8.7 rebounds per contest and 36 blocks on the year.  Shea Grim has contributed with 8.9 points per game while freshman point-guard Kasey Seitz chips in with 5.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

Eastern is now 8-6 overall and 3-0 in league play after knocking off Misericordia 70-67 in Dallas. The Eagles post 66.1 points per game while holding opponents to just 63.8. Junior Meghan Nowak paces the Eastern offense with 15.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Kaitlyn Dougherty adds 12.1 points and 4.5 boards per outing. Emily Lavin chips in 9.9 points and 8.0 rebounds. Junior Gina DiDomenico adds 9.4 points shooting 24-of-55 from beyond the arc. Eastern has been solid on the glass out rebounding opponents 43.3-40.0.

The King's men King's improved to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in Freedom Conference play with a 77-72 at DeSales on Wednesday. The Monarchs are scoring 78.1 points per contest while allowing opponents 70.8. Senior guard Kyle Hammonds paces the King's offense with 18.9 points per game to go with 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Fellow senior Joe Caffrey adds 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and a team-leading 3.4 assists.

Freshman Dan Rutecki adds 9.2 points and 4.7 boards. Tim O'Shea has provided a spark off the bench scoring 7.0 points and pulling down 2.6 boards per outing. Last Saturday King's head coach J.P. Andrejko became the all-time winningest coach in King's history and now has 203 career victories.

Eastern carries a 7-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the Freedom Conference after dropping a 74-60 decision at Misericordia on Wednesday. The Eagles average 72.4 points per game while allowing 72.1. Malcolm Garrison leads the team in scoring with 13.6 points per contest. Jimmie Willis chips in 12.2 points per game to go with 4.1 boards per contest. Saquan Turk adds 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per outing. Caleb Knudsen is the Eagles leading rebounder with 7.1 boards per contest as well as scoring 6.6 points per game.

King's swimmers compete for just the seocnd time since the first semester after splitting with Messiah and Arcadia last week.  The women enter the contest with a 6-4 record while the men stand at 4-5.
