King's Swimmers Fall to Albright
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The King's College swim teams had a solid showing against perennial power Albright with the women falling 119-78 and the men dropping a 122-68 decision.
The Lady Monarchs swept the 100 breaststroke with
Rachel Jonas finishing in a time of 1:14.58 with
Patricia Manning finishing second with a time of 1:15.09 and
Caroline Fitch posting a 1:23.10 good for third. Manning also scored a second place finish in the 400 individual medley in a time of 4:45.62.
Brigid Wynn and
Macawley Brown finished second and third in the 200 IM with Wynn posting a 2:25.54 just edging out Brown's 2:25.60. Brown tallied a second place finish in the 100 backstroke win a time of 1:06.17 just ahead of Wynn in third place with a time of 1:07.48. King's other second place finish came from
Erin McLin in the 100 butterfly. McLin notched a time of 1:05.00.
The Lady Monarchs had four other podium finishes.
Alexa Lambert swam a time of 12:23.44 in the 1000 freestyle good for third place.
Caroline Fitch scored a third place finish in the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:10.10. Jonas picked up a third place finish with a time of 28.05 in the 50 freestyle and
Katie Fitch posted a time of 1:01.15 in the 100 freestyle.
The 200 freestyle relay team of McLin,
Katie Fitch,
Caroline Fitch and
Caitlin Tracchio tallied a first place finish in a time of 1:52.84 and the quartet of Wynn, Jonas, Brown and Manning finished second in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:59.38.
On the men's side
Kyle Newton scored a first place finish in the 100 backstroke in a time of 59.59. Newton also scored a second place finish with a time of 2:11.96 in the 200 IM. The Monarchs also got a top finish from
Michael Sweeney in a time of 1:05.81 in the 100 backstroke. Matt Dickson finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.15.
Josh Shoemaker swam a time of 52.55 in the 100 freestyle to earn a second place finish. Sweeney also notched a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:16.05.
Andrew Reimann tallied a third place finish with a time of 1:01.73 in the 100 butterfly.
The Monrach relay team of Reimann,
Lucas Crock,
Nate Lahr and
Justin Weilert took a first place finish in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:40.80.
James McLaughlin, Sweeny, Newton and Shoemaker teamed up to swim a 1:46.48 good for second place in the 200 medley relay.
Both teams are back in action next Saturday when they host Lycoming and FDU-Florham at 2:00 p.m. at Scandlon Pool.
