King's Swim Teams Forge Split with Lycoming, FDU-Florham

KING'S SWIMMERS SPLIT WITH LYCOMING, FDU SATURDAY AT CYC

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College swim teams came away with a split Saturday in a tri-meet against Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lycoming College and FDU Florham.

King's women (7-6) defeated FDU by a 206-13 margin but fell to Lycoming 143.5-116.5. The King's men (5-7) defeated FDU 148-83.0 but dropped a 171-73 verdict to Lycoming

In the meet, King's Caroline Fitch won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11:42.65 and was also victorious in the 500-freestyle at 5:45.76.  In the 200-breaststroke, King's Patricia Manning won the event with a 2:40.53. She was also tied for first in the 200-individual medley at 2:23.54 and finished second in the 200-freestyle at 2:08.63.

Macawley Brown won the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:01.80 and placed second in the 100-freestyle at 59.39. She also finished third in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:22.70.

Katie Fitch was second in the 1000-freestyle at 11:48.69. and third in the 500-freestyle with a 5:49.02.  Brigid Wynn was second in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:45.79 and was also third in the 200-freestyle at 2:10.34. Erin McLin was third in the 100-backstroke with a 1:08.36 as well as in the 200-backstroke at 2:23.06. In the 100 breaststroke, Rachel Jonas was second at 1:13.47.

King's 200-medley relay team of Wynn, Erin McLin, Jonas, and Brown were second with a time of 1:59.01.

For the men, King's Lucas Crock captured the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:03.24. In the men's 200-freestyle  Michael Sweeney was second with a 1:51.41 while also finishing second in the 200-breaststroke at 2:27.74.  Andrew Reimann was second in the 100-butterfly with a 1:04.02 and was also fourth in the 50-freestyle at 24.20

Kyle Newton finished second in the 200-butterfly with at 2:12.79 and in the 200-backstroke with a 2:12.03 while James McLaughlin placed second in the 500-freestyle at 5:19.06. In the men's 1000-freestyle, King's Justin Weilert was third with a 11:53.38 while Josh Shoemaker finished third in the 50-freestyle at 23.41

King's men's 200-medley relay team of James McLaughlin, Josh Shoemaker, Michael Sweeney, and Kyle Newton were second with a time of 1:47.91.

King's will close out its regular season at home on February 1 when the Monarchs host Elizabethtown College at 1:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
