King's Basketball Teams Hosting DeSales on Saturday on Play Gray Day

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. — The King's College men's and women's basketball teams will play host to DeSales on Saturday as part of the Play Gray day. The women's game tips off at 1:00 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3:00 p.m. In addition, KIng's will host its men's basketball Alumni Game at 10:00a.m.

Ticket prices are set at $4 for adults and $2 for students. King's employees and students enter free with presentation of college I.D.'s. Fans unable to attend can follow the action online, via Live Video or LiveStats:

King's women enters tonight's Freedom Conference tilt with a 5-13 overall mark and a 1-6 record in leauge play after grinding out a 76-75 overtime win over Misericordia on Wednesday. The Lady Monarchs are allowing 73.2 points per game while tallying 63.2 points per contest.

King's has had balance on offense with three different players averaging double-figure points. Junior Marissa Manning paces the King's offense with 14.2 points per game to go with 7.6 rebounds and 14 blocks on the season. Kayla Feairheller adds 13.3 points and posts 6.3 rebounds per game.

Sophomore Jennifer Fabian tallies 10.3 points per game while leading the team with 8.8 rebounds per contest and 43 blocks on the year.  Kasey Seitz triggers the offense with 4.2 assists per outing to go with 5.7 points.

The Bulldog women are currently 14-4 overall and 4-3 in the Freedom Conference after earning an 84-60 decision over Manhattanville on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs average 72.8 points per game while holding opponents to 63.6.

The DeSales attack is led by Sondrine Glovas and her 18.1 points per game to go with 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Alexiah Grant adds 16.6 points per outing. Megan Gallagher chips in 10.0 points and 8.2 rebounds. Alex Suk is DeSales leading rebounder pulling down 9.2 boards per game to go with 9.4 points. The Bulldogs won the seasons first meeting 85-64 on Jan. 15.

On the men's side the Monarchs stand at 10-8 overall and 3-4 in the Freedom Conference after dropping a 71-66 overtime heartbreaker against Misericordia on Wednesday. The King's offense produces 76.4 points per game while on the defensive end the Monarchs are allowing just 69.9.

Senior guard Kyle Hammonds leads King's in scoring with 19.2 points per game to go with 4.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest. Fellow senior Joe Caffrey chips in 13.6 points, 5.1 boards and a team-leading 3.4 assists per contest. Caffrey ranks fifth in D-III with a 3.41 assist to turnover ratio. Freshman Dan Rutecki tallies 10.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Tom Heston is the Monarchs top rebounder with 5.7 boards while scoring 7.0 points.

DeSales comes into today's contest with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-3 mark in the Freedom Conference after dropping a 72-59 decision to Manhattanville on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs average 74.7 points per game while allowing 70.6.

Mike Coleman paces the DeSales offense with 16.1 points per game while grabbing 4.3 boards. Kyle Hash chips in 12.2 points and a team-leading 5.2 rebounds per year. Paul Pammer is the third Bulldog averaging double-figure scoring at 10.1 points per contest. Cody Deal adds 9.3 points per game.

As part of the Play for Gray Day King's is selling "Play Gray" tee-shirts with all proceeds being donated to the Donoghue family.  Tee shirts can be purchased in Scandlon Gym during the 1:00 p.m. women's game and the 3:00 p.m. men's game at a cost of $10 per-shirt.

In addition, a variety of candy will be made available with the hopes spectators will make a cash donation of their choice in exchange for taking candy. All candy funds will also be donated to the Donoghue family.

Tee shirts and candy sales will be held during both women's and men's games.

In addition, there is going to be a fundraising reception "A Night for Brian" at Uptown Restaurant, right across from the Luzerne County Courthouse on River Street. There will be a $10.00 cover with all proceeds from the cover and tips going to Brian and his family.
