KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DEFEAT DESALES 4-0CENTER VALLEY, PA --- The King's College men's soccer team scored two goals in the first half and two in the second half to defeat DeSales University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory King's improves to 9-4-1 overall and 1-1 in Freedom play while DeSales drops to 5-8-1 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom Conference.
King's got on the board in the first half at 19:46 when
Niall Croke beat the keeper on a penalty kick to give the Monarchs a 1-0 advantage. The Monarchs would strike again in the first half when
Billy Brown hit the back of the net on a shot from the top of the box at 39:08 to give King's a 2-0 halftime lead.
The Monarchs scored early in the second half at 48:25 when
Chris Nygren scored on a breakaway goal with
Erik Foster getting the assist to give King's a 3-0 advantage. Brown then closed out the scoring when he tallied his second goal of the game at 85:51 off an assist from Nygren.
King's outshot DeSales 19-14 while the Bulldogs held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Tyler Wilson made five saves in goal for the Monarchs.
King's will next be in action on Tuesday when they host FDU-Florham at 7:00 pm at McCarthy Stadium in a rematch of last year's Freedom Conference Championship game won by the Monarchs 2-1.
