KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER EDGED BY DESALES, 3-2CENTER VALLEY, PA --- The King's College women's soccer team was edged by DeSales 3-2 on a late goal by Brady Walsh Saturday afternoon.
Walsh scored the game winning goal, her second of the game, at 85:11 off an assist from Jessica Wetherhold to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 advantage.
With the victory DeSales improves to 5-5-3 overall and 2-0 in Freedom play while King's falls to 3-6-2 overall and 0-2 in the Freedom Conference.
The Monarchs got on the board in the first half at 20:33 when
Erin Laird scored off an assist from
Christina Nassaney. Nassaney took a free kick after a Bulldog foul from around midfield and drove it down the field where Laird collected the ball and sent it into the back of the net. The Bulldogs were able to tie the game up about 11 minutes later at 31:30 when Walsh scored her first goal of the game off an assist from Gabby Lucchese.
In the second half King's would strike first again at 69:27 when
Alexandra Garrett scored off a rebound from
Michelle Spataro's shot that hit the crossbar. DeSales would even the score again when Wetherhold scored off an assist from Walsh at 80:48.
DeSales outshot the Monarchs 17-8 and had an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Gabrielle Murphy made seven saves in goal for the Monarchs while Michelle Churchman made two saves for the Bulldogs.
King's will next be in action on Wednesday when they host FDU-Florham at McCarthy Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
