KING'S SWIMMERS OPEN 2014-15 SEASON WITH SPLIT VERSUS MARYWOOD

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's and men's swim teams opened the 2014-15 campaign Friday night by splitting a dual meet with visiting Marywood University in a non-conference matchup Scandlon Gymnasium.

King's women defeated Marywood 145-115 while the Monarchs men dropped a 193-60 decision to the Pacers.

In the women's 200-freestyle Brigid Wynn was the victor, touching in at 2:07.69. She also touched first in the 100-backstroke with a 1:05.31. Wynn won her third event of the meet with a 5:09.12 in the 400 individual medley.

In the 100-butterfly Macawley Brown won with a time of 1:01.45. Brown also captured the 100-freestyle at 57.18. She won her third event of the night by posting a 28.24 in the 50-butterfly.

In the women's 1,000-freestyle Caroline Fitch was victorious with a time of 11:53.79. Gabrielle Corpuz won the 50-backstroke at 30.29. Rachel Jonas captured the 50-breaststroke at 34.20.

King's women's 200-medley relay team of Corpuz, Jonas, Brown, and Wynn were winners with a time of 1:58.70.

 
For the King's men Gavin Gagliardi won the 50-breaststroke with a 31.49. Lucas Crock captured the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.46.

Chris Lukashewski was second in the 50-backstroke at 27.44 and was also runner-up in the 100-freestyle with a 51.66. Josh Shoemaker was second in the 100-butterfly with a 59.44.

King's returns to the pool Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. match at Drew University in Madison, NJ.
