KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO 17TH RANKED MISERICORDIA

DALLAS -- The defending Freedom Conference champion Misericordia University women's soccer team proved its number 17 national ranking is no fluke as the host Lady Cougars downed visiting King's 5-0 in a rematch of the 2013 conference championship game.

With the win Misericordia improved to 8-2 while King's slipped to 3-4-2.

Former Division I player Megan Mahoney, the reigning Freedom Conference "Player of the Year" scored a pair of first half goals  and added a third in the second half. Emily Szeflinski and Jacqueline Stevens had one goal apiece.

Misericordia outshot King's 38-5 and had a 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.  King's goalie Jessica Natale had 12 saves in the game.

The Lady Monarchs return to action Wednesday with a 5:00 p.m. home contest against Mt. St. Mary's at the Betzler Athletic Complex.
