KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO TOP-SEEDED DESALES 1-0 IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

CENTER VALLEY — Isabel McPeak scored the lone goal of the game 11:05 into the second half as the top-seeded DeSales University women's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over fourth seeded King's College in the semi-finals of the Freedom Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon in Center Valley.

With the win DeSales improved to 10-5-4 overall while King's saw its season come to an end at 6-9-2.

After a scoreless first half DeSales pushed across what proved to be the winning goal when McPeak knocked in a corner feed from Bulldog teammate Emily DeOliveira.

Both teams had limited chicness in the game as DeSales posted five shots on goal compared to three for King's. DeSales also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Ivy Nulton led King's with four shots while Alexandra Garret followed with two. King's goalie Jessica Natale made four saves while Bulldog keeper Michelle Churchman posted three stops.

For King's it was a difficult end in a seaosn in which the squad battled through numerous injuries. But in the end the team can hold its head high after earning a Freedom Conference Tournament berth for the second straight season.

Last season the Monarchs placed second in the conference tournament and came up just short in its quest to return to the title game. With no seniors on the squad King's figures to once again challenge in 2015.
