KING'S, LYCO MEN'S SOCCER SETTLE FOR 1-1 OVERTIME TIE

WILKES-BARRE -- Daniel Hernandez scored with 7:05 left in regulation to help the King's College men's soccer team to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with visiting Lycoming College in a rematch of a first round pairing in the 2013 NCAA  National Tournament.

With the draw King's stands at 7-3-1 while Lycoming, which defeated King's 1-0 in last season's NCAA tournament, is 8-0-3. 


Lycoming struck first when Abdullah Abdi scored on a penalty kick with 24:34 left in the opening half.  King's found the back of the net with 7:05 remaining in regulation when Hernandez drilled in a shot from 30 yards out just under the crossbar.

The teams played through two scoreless ten-minute overtime periods to finish the game deadlocked at 1-1.

King's held an 11-10 advantage in total shots while Lycoming owned a 7-6 lead in shots on goal. King's goalie Tyler Wilson made six saves for King's while Lycoming keeper Connor Keenan had five stops. Lycoming held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks.

King's returns too action Saturday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Misericordia University.
