KING'S SWIMMERS SPLIT WITH LYCOMING. LADY MONARCHS POST FIRST-EVER WIN OVER WARRIORSFULL BOX SCOREWILKES-BARRE —The King's College women's swimming team picked up what is arguably the biggest team victory in program history as the Lady Monarcs posted a 135-126 victory over traditional MAC contender Lycoming College Saturday at the Wilkes-Barre C.Y.C. The Monarchs men swam well and posted strong times but fell to Lycoming 156-89.
With the win King's women improved to 8-3 on the year while the men slipped to 3-7.
For the women,
Macawley Brown was a three-time individual winner, capturing the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:16.74; the 100-butterfly at 1:00.89; and also the 100-freestyle at 57.56.
Caroline Fitch won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11:40.65 and was second in the 500-freestyle at 5:45.72. She was also third in the 50-freestyle at 27.68
Gabrielle Corpuz was victorious in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:05.03 and touched second in the 200-backstroke at 2:21.03.
Katie Fitch was won the 500-freestyle at 5:45.29 and was second in the 1000-freestyle with a 11:45.64
Brigid Wynn won the 200-backstroke with a 2:21.24 and was second in both the 200-freestyle at 2:09.28 and in the 200 individual medley with a 2:26.07. Hannah Olney finished second in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:43.23 while
Marybeth Rudy was third in the event at 2:45.48.
Chrissy O'Loughlin was third in the 100-butterfly with a 1:10.37.
King's 200-medley relay team of Corpuz, Brown, Rudy, and Wynn were winners with a time of 1:58.27.
For the men Mike Sweeney captured the 1000-freestyle with a 11:06.70 and was second in the 200-individual medley at 2:13.76.
Kyle Newton won the 200-individual medley at 2:08.58 and placed second in the 200-butterfly with 2:09.62
Josh Shoemaker was second in the 200-freestyle at 1:57.40 and also in the 100-butterfly with a 58.83.
James McLaughlin finished second in the 100-backstroke with a 59.73 and was third in the 200-backstroke at 2:09.71. Matt Dickson touched second in both the 100-freestyle at 1:05.96 and in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:27.87.
Chris Lukashewski was second in the 50-freestyle at 22.96 and also finished third in the 100-freestyle at 51.14.
Lucas Crock was third in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:31.63 and finished fourth in the 100-breaststroke at 1:09.03.
King's 200-freestyle relay team of Lukashewski, Sweeney, Newton, and McLaughlin were winners with a time of 1:38.51.
King's swimmers will close out the regular-season on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Home matchup against Wilkes University in the first-ever matchup between the programs.
