KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER GOES DOUBLE OT TO DOWN MANHATTANVILLE

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team dominated play but was unable to find the back of the net for 103 minutes. Fortunately for the Lady Monarchs, the 104th minute proved to be the charm.

Ivy Nulton scored the game winning goal with 6:06 left in the second overtime period as King's earned an important 1-0 victory over visiting Manhattanville College Saturday night at McCarthy Stadium.  With the win King's improved 5-5 overall and 1-1 in Freedom Conference play while Manhattanville fell to 4-7 and 0-2 in league competition. 

Despite holding a 21-0 advantage in shots, the teams entered the second overtime tied at 0-0. Finally,with the game approaching a tie, King's Mariana Mercado delivered a through-ball to Nulton on the right wing and the Lady Monarchs senior beat Valaiant goalie Delores Diemicke low and left for the game winner.

King's finished the game holding a 23-0 advantage in shots and a 10-2 lead in corner kicks.  Diemicke made nine saves in the game while King's goalie Jessica Natale picked up the win without being forced to make a save.

King's returns to the pitch Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
