King's Field Hockey Concludes Season with 4-2 Road Win over DeSales, Finishes with 12-7 Record

KING'S FIELD HOCKEY WRAPS UP SEASON WITH 4-2 ROAD WIN OVER DESALES

CENTER VALLEY — Brianna DiMaggio scored two goals and the King's College field hockey team built a 3-0 lead before settling for season-ending 4-2 victory over host DeSales University Tuesday in Center Valley.

With the win, King's wraps up its season with a 12-7 overall record and a 4-3 Freedom Conference mark.  DeSales, meanwhile fell to 3-15 and 0-7 in league play.  King's finish the season tied for fourth in the Freedom Conference but will miss out on a league playoff berth due to the conference tie breaking criteria.

King's opened the scoring 15:37 into the game when Brianna DiMaggio scored unassisted on a loose ball in front of the nt.  DiMaggio added her second goal at the 28:07 mark after beating a DeSales defender one-on-one, giving the Monarchs a 2-0 lead at the break.

The score grew to 3-0 early just 2:02 into the second half when Madysen Jones struck net off an assist from Alyssa Monaghan. DeSales got on the board just 0:58 later when Alexa Beaumont knocked in a rebound. The Bulldogs then cut the lead to 3-2 when Tess Luzi scored unassisted at the 45:29 mark.

But King's answered when Kelsey Gabriele added an unassisted goal to push the Monarch lead to 4-2 with 7:50 left in the contest.

King's dominated play, outshooting DeSales 26-7 overall while holding a 17-4 advantage in shots-on-goal.  The Monarchs also held a commanding 20-3 lead in penalty corners.   Monarch goalie Paige Tedik made two saves in the game.

Monaghan, meanwhile, graduates from King's near the top of three major career statistical categories. She wraps up her collegiate career sixth all time at King's with 113 career points while also standing sixth in career goals (46) and tied for fourth in career assists (21).
