KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER RALLIES PAST JUNIATA WITH TWO GOALS OVER FINAL 8:16HUNTINGDON — The King's College women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit by scoring two goals over the final 8:16 of play to stun host Juniata College 2-1 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday in Huntingdon.
With the win, King's improved to 4-5 on the year, snapping a four-game losing streak in the process. Juniata, meanwhile, slipped to 5-5-1 with the devastating defeat.
Juniata took a 1-0 lead just 9:24 into the game when Aubrie Christensen scored unassisted. The Eagles would maintain the lead until the 81:44 mark when
Savannah Tucker scored off a corner kick delivery from
Amy Barge.
King's would then score what proved to be the winning goal when
Erin Laird made good on a pass from
Allison Andrew to give the Lady Monarchs a 2-1 lead with 4:07 to play. The King's defense would hold Juniata without a shot the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
Juniata outshot King's 14-13 for the game but the Lady Monarchs owned a 9-6 advantage in shots-on-goal. The Monarchs held a 6-1 corner kick advantage. The Monarchs, however, made their last corner kick count on Tucker's game-tying score. King's goalie
Jessica Natale made five saves.
