KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS 3-2 DECISION AGAINST MOUNT SAINT MARY

WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to visiting Mount Saint Mary College on Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.

Mount Saint Mary improved to 7-3-1 with the win while King's fell to 3-4.

Hannah Pascual gave the Knights a 1-0 lead just over six minutes into the game when she lofted a high arching shot from 30 yards out that slipped through the goalkeeper's hands and into the back of the net. Mount Saint Mary increased the lead to 2-0 in the 49th minute when Nicole Cavallo scored in front of the net after a failed clear of a Knights corner kick. The Knights made it 3-0 in the 58th minute when Emily Scheuer headed in a ball from five yards out after a failed clear of another Mount Saint Mary corner kick.

The Monarchs got on the board in the 82nd minute when Lauren Phillips sent a through ball to Allison Andrew who then beat the keeper. Erin Laird cut the deficit to 3-2 with her team-leading fifth goal of the year with 12 seconds left off a cross from the left side from Kristen Ryan.

The Monarchs outshot the Knights 12-11 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Mary Riley got the victory in goal for Mount Saint Mary making one save while Jessica Natale made one save in goal for King's.

King's will next begin conference play on Saturday when they host DeSales University at McCarthy Stadium at 5:00 p.m. in a rematch of last season's MAC Freedom semifinal game. DeSales defeated King's 1-0 in a closely contested battle.
