KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALL TO MISERICORDIA 4-0
DALLAS, PA -- The Misericordia women's soccer team scored twice in each half to defeat King's College 4-0 in the conference opener for both teams on Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field in Dallas.
The Cougars improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference while the Monarchs fall to 3-5 overall with a 0-1 mark in conference play.
Misericordia, who is the top team receiving votes outside the NSCAA Division III Top 25 Poll and ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic region, proved too much for King's to handle. The Cougars had a 19-3 advantage in shots and a 4-0 advanatage in corner kicks.
The Cougars scored first in the 13
th minute when Alexa Alchevsky found Jacqueline Stevens behind the King's defense who was able to put in the into the upper left corner of the net. King's keeper 
Jess Schenfeld was able to get a hand on the shot but not enough to keep it out of goal. It seemed as if Stevens was offside on the play but no call was made by the official much to the dismay of the Monarch bench. Misericordia got their second goal in the 42
nd minute when Kylen Smith sent a cross into the box from the left side and Amber Hartranft was able to get around a King's defender and get a leg on it to push the ball into goal.
In the second half the Cougars got an unassisted goal from Jeanna Orfanos in the 59
th minute before Steven scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Hartranft in the 69
th minute.
Kristen Ryan, 
Mariana Mercado, and 
Amy Barge each had a shot for the Monarchs. 
Jess Schenfeld made seven saves in goal.
The Lady Monarchs will return to the pitch on Wednesday when they travel to Bethlehem to take on Moravian College at 5:00 p.m.
