KING'S MEN'S SOCCER SETTLES FOR 1-1 TIE WITH ELMIRA
ELMIRA, NY — In its last non-conference game of the season, the King's College men's soccer team settled for a 1-1 double-overtime tie with host Elmira College.
With the draw, the Monarchs stand at 8-8-1 on the year while Elmira is 4-9-3.
King's took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by
Chris Galeano 10:10 into the contest. Elmira, which was outshot by King's 11-3, managed a 1-1 half-time tie when Michael Bryant made good on a penalty kick.
Neither tam would score for the final 65 minutes of play. King's outshot Elmira 31-20 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Monarch goalie
Owen Geedey made 10 saves, including a key save on a breakaway in the 59th minute.
King's will wrap up the regular-season on Saturday with a critical 7:30 p.m. home matchup against FDU-Florham in a game the Monarchs need to win in order to have an opportunity at a Freedom Conference Tournament berth. Six teams remain alive for the four playoff berths as the Monarchs are tied for fifth place while FDU is in a three-way tie for second with Eastern and DeSales, one game ahead of King's and Manhattanville.
