KING'S SWIMMERS SPLIT WITH STEVENSON
WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College swim teams split a dual meet with Stevenson University on Saturday afternoon at Scandlon Pool in Wilkes-Barre. The men's team was victorious 111-46 while the women's fell by a score of 128-55.
The men's team improves their record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 against Middle Atlantic Conference competitions. The women fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the MAC.
The men's team cruised to an easy win over the visiting Mustangs who only have five swimmers on their roster and did not have any competitors in some events.
Chris Soutter swam a season-best time of 10:49.40 in the 1000 yard freestyle while
Rhyce Hammaker won the 200 yard freestyle with a MAC qualifying time of 1:54.38.
Dan Weekes was victorious in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.27 and in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.53.
Bryce Groshardt and
Aaron Griffith both qualified for the MAC Championships in the 400 yard IM with times of 4:27.87 and 4:41.31 respectively. Griffith also qualified in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.52 as well as
Christopher Dionne with a time of 5:28.84.
The Stevenson women's team won all the events on the women's side taking advantage of King's swimming in their second dual meet in under 24 hours.
Katie Fitch finished second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:45.76 and in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:49.17.
Mikayla Miller was second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.28 and in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.87.
Hannah Oney was second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:41.52.
The Monarch swim teams will return to the pool next weekend when they host the Diamond City Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Wyoming Valley C.Y.C in Wilkes-Barre.
