KING'S MEN'S SOCCER EDGED BY ALFRED IN OVERTIME
ALFRED, NY -- Richard Lander scored the game winning goal in overtime as host Alfred University overcame a 1-0 deficit with just under two minutes left in regulation to post a 2-1 victory over visiting King's College in a non-conference men's soccer matchup Wednesday in Alfred, NY.
With the win Alfred improved to 5-1-1 while King's slipped to 3-4.
After a scoreless first half, Fabio Masso scored his first collegiate goal for the Monarchs 4:12 into the second stanza off an assist from Kevin Mazol.
Alfred, however, sent the game to overtime when Miguel Reyes struck net with just 2:07 remaining . Lander would tally the game winner with 2:12 to go in the first overtime frame.
Alfred held a 14-12 advantage in shots but only three were on-goal. The Saxons also led 14-4 in corner kicks. Monarch goalie Owen Geedey had one save.
The Monarchs will next host Widener University Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. as part of King's Homecoming festivities.
