FOUR FIRST HALF GOALS POWER KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER TO 5-0 VICTORY OVER CLARKS SUMMIT

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA --- The King's College women's soccer team scored four first half goals for the second straight game to begin the season in a dominating 5-0 victory over host Clarks Summit University on Wednesday afternoon in Clarks Summit.

The Lady Monarchs improve to 2-0 with their second consecutive shutout. Clarks Summit falls to 0-3. King's extended their winning streak over the Defenders to five games.

Kristen Ryan started the goal scoring for the Lady Monarchs in the 17th minute when her defender fell down leading to a wide open shot that she buried into the back of the net.  In the 30th minute Allison Andrew netted her second goal of the year when she hauled in her own shot that was saved by the Defender keeper and chipped it into the net.

King's third goal came in the 37th minute when Andrea Galvin scored her first goal of the year by capitalizing on a shot from Danielle Putnam that hit the cross bar and firing it into the empty net. Amy Barge gave the Monarchs a 4-0 halftime lead when she converted a free kick from 25 yards out in the 42nd minute.

Anna Lacalamita became the fifth different Lady Monarch to score in the 62nd minute when she found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal off an assist from Ryan.

King's had a dominating 28-3 shot advantage as well as 10-0 in corner kicks. Jess Schenfeld got the win in net playing the first half and making two saves. Ally McMahon faced one shot that went high in the the second half. Elysia Hinkel made 10 saves in net for Clarks Summit.

Kristen Ryan led the Monarchs with a goal and an assist. Allison Andrew, Andrea Galvin, Amy Barge, and Anna Lacalamita had a goal each while Danielle Putnam recorded an assist.

King's will be back in action on Saturday when they host Juniata College at McCarthy Stadium at 5:00 p.m.
