KING'S SWIMMERS DROP TRI-MEET TO MAC RIVALS ARCADIA AND MESSIAH

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College swim team competed for the first time in over a month and both women's and men's squads fell to visiting Arcadia University and Messiah College Friday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.

Swimming for the first time since December 9, King's women fell to Messiah 193-65 and also dropped a 205-53 verdict to Arcadia. The Monarch men lost to Arcadia 183.5-75.5 as well as Messiah 135-124.
 

For the King's women Kirsten Siwy was victorious in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:33.52 and also placed third in the 1000-freestyle at 11:22.16, and also in the 200-individual medley with a 2:20.50.

Hannah Oney was fifth in the 200 breaststroke at 2:44.11, then finished seventh in the 100-breaststroke at 1:15.74. Melina Good placed sixth in the 50-freestyle at 26.81 while Katie Fitch finished sixth in the 500-freestyle with a 5:45.97. Lauren Pham placed sixth in the 100-butterfly at 1:07.12. 

Brigid Wynn was sixth in the 200-backstroke at 2:24.66; seventh in the 200-individual medley with a 2:29.89; and was also eighth in the 100-backstroke with a 1:08.91. Mehan Whitt was sixth in the 100-backstroke with a 1:07.5 and was also eighth in the 200-backstroke at 2:27.51. Mikayla Miller was eighth in the 200-freestyle at 2:09.01. 
 

For the men, Bryce Groshardt won the 100-backstroke with a time of 55.77 and finished second in the 200-backstroke at 2:03.53, as well as in the 200-individual medley with a 2:04.51. Dan Weekes captured the 50-freestyle at 22.18. Weekes was also third in the 100-freestyle with a 49.83. Randill DeAsis touched second in the 100-breaststroke at 1:04.96 and was also fifth in the 100-freestyle with a 51.46.

Rhyce Hammaker finished third in the 200-breaststroke at 2:21.70. Chris Dionne  touched third in the 100-butterfly at 557.68 and was also sixth in the 200-freestyle with a 1:58.12 and in the 200-freestyle at 51.59. Josh Shoemaker was fourth in the 500-freestyle with a 5:14.38. 

Chris Soutter finished fourth in both the 1000-freestyle at 10:45.13 and in the 100-breaststroke with a 1:07.63. He was also fifth in the 500-freestyle at 5:14.72. John Kwasizur was sixth in the 100-backstroke with a 1:03.36 while Connor Murray was eighth in the event at 1:04.77. Andy Heilman was seventh in the 200-breaststroke at 2:40.90.

King's teams return to the pool January 21 at Lycoming College for a 1:00 PM tri-meet with FDU-Florham.
