MEN'S TEAM EARNS FIRST-EVER VICTORY OVER LYCOMING IN DOUBLE-DUAL SWEEP FOR SWIM TEAMS; SIWY BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD

WILLIAMSPORT, PA --- Kirsten Siwy broke the school record in the 100 yard breaststroke as the King's College swimming teams swept a double-dual meet against FDU-Florham and host Lycoming College on Saturday afternoon at Lamade Gymnasium Natatorium in Williamsport. The women's team defeated FDU-Florham 137-43 and followed up last year's first ever win against Lycoming with a repeat 122-79 victory on Saturday. The men's team defeated FDU-Florham 143-48 and earned their first-ever win against Lycoming with a 127-73 victory over the Warriors.

With the sweep the men's team improves to 6-4 this season and 4-3 against Middle Atlantic Conference teams. The women's team improves to 5-6 overall and 3-4 against conference opponents.

The women won both relays as Megan Whitt, Siwy, Lauren Pham, and Mikayla Miller won the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.80 and Brigid Wynn, Melina Good, Amanda Schwerdtman, and Nicole Mealey won the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:51.26.

Siwy won both of her individual events finishing the 400 yard IM in 4:53.56 and then breaking the school record in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.48.  Schwerdtman also won both of her events by sweeping the two distance events. She won the 1000 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 11:33.77 and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:39.69.

Good won the 100 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 57.92 and finished second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 27.09. Megan Whitt was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.31. Wynn finished second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:08.04 and second in 200 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:07.01.

The men's team also won both relays as John Kwasizur, Randill De Asis, Christopher Dionne, and Dan Weekes finished first in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:45.82 and Weekes, Bryce Groshardt, Josh Shoemaker, and Rhyce Hammaker swam a 1:30.34 in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Shoemaker was victorious in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.80 and the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 56.75. Groshardt won the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:33.40 and the 100 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 48.69.

Chris Soutter won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:53.47 and Dan Weekes finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.53. Aaron Griffith was victorious in the 500 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:16.53.

Dionne finished second in the 50 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 23.16 and second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.42. Kwasizur was second in the 100 yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:02.01 and De Asis finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.19.

The swim teams will be in action next Saturday when they host Wilkes University at 1:00 p.m. in Scandlon Pool in the final dual meet before the MAC Championships.
