King's Basketball Teams Begin 2nd Round of MAC Freedom Games Saturday with Home Twin Bill vs. Manhattanville

KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HOSTING MANHATTANVILLE IN SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER

WILKES-BARRE — After the first round of Freedom Conference games concluded Wednesday night, both King's women's and men's teams have much work to do to get back into playoff contention. That starts Saturday when each team embarks on the second round of league competition against Manhattanville College in a Freedom doubleheader in Scandlon Gymnasium.

The women's game tips off at 1:00 PM with the men's game to follow at 3:00 PM.  Fans unable to attend can also follow the games online at the links below:

The King's women stand at 3-14 overall and 1-6 in the Freedom Conference league after a 77-47 road loss to DeSales on Wednesday. Manhattanville is 6-11 and 2-5 in conference games following a 80-44 loss at FDU-Florham on Wednesday  The Valiants posted a 57-56 home victory over King's in the first meeting between the teams on January 14 on a pair of foul shots with 0:16 left in the contest.

King's has been led thus far by freshman power-forward Rebecca Prociak who averages 11.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per-game.  Senior small forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 9.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and team highs of 37 assists and 20 three-pointers.  Sophomore forward Alexis Steeber has tallied with 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds while junior center Olivia Hoffman adds 8.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 71 blocked shots. Senior guard Shae Grim posts 5.4 points and 3.0 rebounds while senior point-guard Kasey Seitz chips in with 2.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 21 assists. The Lady Monarchs average 53.9 points per-game while allowing 63.7 each contest.

Manhattanville is led by Layleah McGuire with 12.0 points, 7.9 rebouds, and 25 assists. Brittany Deieso follows with 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while Ivy Coles adds 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. The Valiants average 56.5 points while allowing 56.5 each game.

King's men will look to snap a 12-game losing streak, the longest in coach J.P. Andrejko's 16-year career with the Monarchs. King's enters the matchup with a 4-14 record and are 0-7 in Freedom play for the first time in Andrejko's career after a 77-74 loss at DeSales on Wednesday.  The Monarchs have lost four of their last five conference games by six points or less.  Manhattanville is 7-11 and 3-4 in league games following a 72-65 road victory over FDU-Florham on Wednesday. The Valiants defeated King's 65-61 in the first meeting January 14 un Purchase, NY.

King's has been paced by senior power forward Dan Rutecki who leads the team with 14.9 points and 8.1 rebounds while standing second on the team with 37 assists. Junior guard Connor Callejas follows with 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 38 assists, and a team-high 40 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Jake Barber has tallied 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 20 three pointers. Senior guard John Fazzini adds 6.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, 33 assists, and 21 three-pointers while junior forward Chris Fazzini contributes 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds. Freshman guard Tyler Millan has tallied 5.7 points with 19 three-pointers while rookie center Andrew Hudak chips in with 5.3 points and 4.7 boards.   The Monarchs average 68.2 points while allowing 71.6 each game.

Manhattanville is headed by Alex Tuci with 16.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 27 three-pointers. Willie Britton follows with 10.9 points and 3.7 rebounds while Charles Nardone chips in with 8.2 points and 3.7 rebounds. The Valiants average 63.9 points while yielding 69.8 each contest.

After concluding their games with Manhattanvile, both King's teams will return home Wednesday with a Freedom Conference doubleheader against Delaware Valley. The women tip off at 6:00 PM while the men follow at 8:00 PM.
