WILKES-BARRE, PA (August 22, 2026) -- The King's College Sports Performance department has added Mikey Iannella as a Sports Performance Assistant, Director of Sports Performance Ross Bowsher announced, welcoming a familiar face back to the Monarchs' performance staff.
Â
Iannella returns to King's after most recently serving as a Strength & Conditioning Summer Intern at Michigan State University, where he worked with more than 100 Division I FBS football student-athletes. During his time with the Spartans, he assisted with training sessions, speed development, athlete monitoring, and performance testing while gaining experience with industry-leading technologies such as Catapult, Perch Velocity Based Training systems, and NordBord testing.
Â
"Mikey interned for me in the winter of 2024 during my first offseason at King's and showed excellent potential and an ability to coach with a ton of energy and passion," said Bowsher.
Â
Prior to his experience at Michigan State, Iannella completed a strength and conditioning internship within King's Athletics during the spring of 2025. In that role, he worked directly with student-athletes, assisting with strength and conditioning programs, exercise instruction, and injury-prevention training.
Â
Bowsher noted that Iannella's return to King's is the result of years of preparation and growth within the profession.
"We spoke about him being a GA with King's two years ago and in that time, he got a lot of additional experience culminating with his Big Ten internship this summer with Michigan State Football Strength and Conditioning," said Bowsher. "He is also in the King's Sports Performance master's program."
Â
In addition to his work in collegiate athletics, Iannella gained experience at Marble Strength in New Jersey, where he taught Olympic weightlifting and cardiovascular training classes while assisting with athlete development and facility operations.
Â
"I'm thrilled to be back at King's College," said Iannella. "After completing my summer internship at Michigan State University, I am excited to take what I have learned and be able to have a positive effect on the athletes here at King's College."
Â
Iannella earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from King's College in 2025 and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Performance and Sport Science. He also holds certifications as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through NASM.
Â
Bowsher added that Iannella will take on significant responsibilities within the department immediately.
"He will work primarily with men's and women's basketball and swimming while assisting me with my teams," said Bowsher. "I look forward to him bringing his passion to the King's athletes."
Â
As a Sports Performance Assistant, Iannella will assist with all aspects of the department's strength and conditioning operations, including program implementation, athlete development, testing, and performance monitoring.
